THE HOBBIT - THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG Review!

The epic journey continued towards its destiny which was filled again with more dangers, new mysteries and loads of action ! This movie was actually laying the foundation for 'the Lord of the Rings' Trilogy and Gandalf's priority elsewhere proved the same! So thrilled with the dragon Smaug's sarcasm and punch dialogues! When it uttered 'Is this what u call Revenge? Let me show u all what revenge is!' and started flying towards demolishing the lake town, the people watching at theatre got so excited to c yet another battle coming but 'POOF' went the screen with a thunderous sound and the end credits started rolling! :-( 'Keep waiting for another year to pass!' laughed Peter Jackson sarcastically at the other part of the world then :'(

Insidious 2 Review!

Insidious Chapter 2 :
From the same director of CONJURING, James Wan, comes the next spine chiller which is as good as its predecessor if not better! The story starts right where it was left in 1st part or way b4 that ;)

If haven't seen the 1st part, its better to either hear the plot from friends who accompany as I did or browse b4 going to the film!

The best thing abt Conjuring and this film is that there is more than one ghost involved and smaller subplots and twists which make the narration interesting and us left to screaming as well!

Also none of the characters die unless they r very old and only if they come in flashbacks which gives an 'All is Well' feel for viewers@ the end!

Anyways its always better to sleep with ur closets closed and always better not to know that there is someone standing behind u right now !!

Went with a preset that the film will have a usual 'Ajith as a baddie' plot and a 'Sarvam' kinda dragging Arya's romantic subplot.

But Vishnuvardhan has delivered a brilliant screenplay in the 1st half and strived hard to maintain it in the 2nd half on a 'Rang De Basanthi' mode !!

The results are fruitful and No wonder Censor Board congratulated the team for its plot!!

A Stylish, Action-Packed Thala film again with a message to the youngsters and to the 'F*****g Blood sucking criminals' in Politics !!

And wait.. It is just the Begining !!! Tick Tock!! Tick Tock !!  :) :)

Maryaan Movie Review !!

Maryaan --> Inspired by a true story of an Indian who escaped from Sudan's terrorists !!

When a person faces a moment when he is about to die, all his loved memories will flash b4 his eyes, they say!! But one such memory drives him to cross that moment and continue living !!

Set on the seaside of Tamil Nadu and on the deserts of Africa, the tremendous efforts of A.R.Rahman, Dhanush, Parvathi, Marc (Cinematographer) tries to pull the film to the shore but the clumsy direction of Bharatbala in the 2nd half drowns the film by pulling it back into the sea !! Sad !! 

Raanjhanaa Movie Review

What happens when 3 persons have their own dreams and whether they achieve them when each decides each other's fate??? Its not just an innocent love story as its shown in 1st half but a bundle of life's philosophies unexplained !!! Different climax with phenomenal performances from Dhanush, Sonam, Abhay and all the actors.. Rahman creates magic again by giving a treat with Sufi, Banarasi and Punjabi genres combined !!! Aanand has come a long way from his 1st directorial Maddy-Kangna starrer 'Tanu Weds Manu' !! Now North Indians too can get to know that Dhanush is not just a 'Kolaveri Boy' and why he is the youngest to have won the National Award in the Best Actor Category :) :) :)

'Man of Steel' Review !!

The 'Man of Steel' behind 'Man of Steel' is Hans Zimmer !! Though it was a brilliant reboot to the Super Man franchise by Christopher Nolan with many emotional touches in dialogues and was directed by Zack Snyder of 300 fame with never-ending fight sequences by the VFX team, it was the 'more than Earth size' Background Music that ruled the 143 minutes inside the cinema hall !!

Not as perfect as the Nolan directed films still the presence of the Perfect Super Hero BGM made this movie into definitely larger than rest of the Super Hero films combined (Excluding the Dark Knight series ofcourse :)

P.S 1 : If you're watching it in Dolby Atmos equipped screen, be prepared for some ear smashing noises when the Earth's mass starts expanding at the Indian Ocean ;)

P.S 2 : The BGM will be ringing in your ears even after many hours u left the theatre just like how I am hearing it now while typing this ;)

Soodhu Kavvum Review

Must Watch movie !! Full and full comedy from a serious bunch of kidnappers !! 

Police Encounters - Real Estate goons - Stupid film directors - Middle class mentality - Corrupt Politicians, the debut director has covered many social issues and unveiled the whole plot with unexpected twists and turns in a very interesting 'Guy Ritchie' way. Must have been a fan of him.

40 vayasu aalaa varra Vijay Sethupathykaagavum, Andreah paaduna 'Maama douser kilinjichu' thathuva paadalukaagavum ponadhuku ivlovum bonus !! :)

Moral of the Movie: Dharmathin vaazhvu dhanai 'Soodhu Kavvum', aanaal Irudhiyilum indha kaliyugathil soodhae vellum !!

Iron Man 3 Review !!!

6th consecutive sure Hit in India for the only Hollywood Star Robert Downey Jr!! That is probably may also be the reason why we get to see this a week b4 its release in USA !!

With no Avengers team to back him up, Tony Stark is experiencing his worst nightmare (though he couldn't sleep since ages due to anxiety) in the form of Mandarin (Ben Kingsley)!!

His world collapses when high tech zombies roam the streets & there goes our Iron Man on the mission of saving his love (To hell with the President.. Its alright if he is in danger, let someone else save him.. its not Robert Jr's job) !! :D

Its also funny to see American President dangling in midair with the War Machine Suit on :)

John Favreau, it seems, has accepted to retain only his 'once upon a time cab driver to Tony' role apart from being Executive producer for this 3rd movie though having directed the 1st two parts.

Too many misjudgements made by Tony not just during the fight sequences but also when he said its Christmas season.. For me it all seems to b a Diwali season with so many places being blown up !! :)

Vishwaroopam conveyed many things even before its Release in TN !!

This is the day when for the 1st time, a Tamil film produced, directed and acted by a Tamilian is releasing all around the world (Muslim countries included) but not in Tamil Nadu.

This is the day when Tamil Nadu, the only state in India to have delivered two Chief Ministers from Cine Industry, has got another film banned by one among them.

This is the day that will be remembered by the Opposition Party in TN and will be quoted in their future rallies that 'if we had been in power, we would have released Vishwaroopam and had our whole family watch it in peace' !!

This is the day when we Tamils, showcase to the world that we are not as secular as we think and that some of our fellow brothers still face insecurity and that they still think our mindset can be changed by watching a single film !

This is the day when we realise that though with great difficulties, if someone brings us newer technologies (DTH & Auro 3D), we will accept it only after making him suffer in loss !!

This is the day when it is clear again that though how great a person can be, he will get screwed up and will have to face his difficulties alone because of the system that we live in.

This is the day when Kamal should think of moving to Global Cinema instead of still acting in Tamil film (Vishwaroopam Part 2) even after 'Lord of the Rings' producer has shown interest to work with him because Tamil people either get satisfied easily or entitled to watch only the recent 'Alex Pandian', and the upcoming 'Singham 2' & 'Power Star' films !!

One movie, even b4 its release here, has conveyed too many things !!!!

Ban on Vishwaroopam !!!

I am not here to judge whether getting a 15 day stay (again!!) on 'Vishwaroopam' movie is right or wrong!!

I eagerly booked the tickets & waited but this ban on the movie made me think that if the film had released, I would have watched it with my friends among whom 3 would have been MUSLIMS !!! This second thought which never occurred to me previously was provoked solely by the ban alone & I want to put this blame on them who banned it !!


Blaming a film picturised on Afghanistan's people as against all muslims is like blaming 'The Dark Knight' movie as against all Christians since 'Joker' blew up half the Gotham city !!
