'The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey' Review

"If watching a 3D movie is like looking through a window, then with HFR we've taken the glass out of the window and we're staring at reality." - James Cameron, Director of Avatar and Titanic.

'The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey', Prequel to 'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy from the same Peter Jackson who directed them @Sathyam Cinemas , the second screen in the world to project in HFR 3D technology about which even James Cameron raves about. What more can I ask?? The most satisfied adventurous movie in recent times.

Got a pamphlet after the movie about HFR 3D's viewing experience and the only other movies that will get released in this format are the 2 sequels of The Hobbit and Avatar sequels.

So make way while the sun shines if u r in Chennai !! :)

Gone are the days when we used to be waiting for the sequels and the Epic Ends. Thats how I felt after my favourite sagas 'The Lord of the Rings', 'Pirates of the Carribean','Harry Potter'and the recent Nolan's 'Batman Trilogy' got over.. (Cant include Twilight in this because I hated them like anything) :D

But all that changed when I saw the climax of 'The Hobbit'. Hoped there will be only one sequel to it but I was wrong. 2 sequels to go and I am not complaining !! :)

Peter Jackson has showcased his country New Zealand as the magical Middle-Earth yet again. With the trilogy in the best hands, we need not worry if the sequels will be boring unlike the Potter movies !!

Though the movie's plot is not as intense as LOTR, you get to c how 'the Ring' got into Bilbo's hands from Gollum !!

Loudest Cheers when the screen showed the faces of Frodo (cameo), Gollum and GANDALF whom we already know of !!

HFR 3D has given one of my best movie going experience. You too go experience the same to feel how it is !! :)

Talaash Movie Review

3 yrs after 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan in a Lead Role again!!!
If u goto 'Talaash' with this thought, expecting his best movie, u will be disappointed. Go without any expectations and u will like the movie.

Its 1st time that Aamir has acted in this genre! Farhan Akthar and Anurag Kashyap's dialogues in the 1st half are major plus !! :)

Its nice that the suspense doesn't break till the 2nd part of 2nd half.

After that, if u start to think what the plot might be and find it out b4 they reveal it in the movie, then u will turn out to be a loser like me, with a little disappointment on your face when all others seem to have enjoyed the movie. :( Hence dont think about the suspense end unless it comes hits u on your face!!

As per his request, kindly donot share the suspense element with any1 else knowing which the film wont be interesting at all!!

Life Of Pi Movie Review !!

"It takes you on a journey, and unless you have read the book, which I had not, you have no idea where that journey is going. It does what good 3D is supposed to do, which is, it allows you to forget you are watching a 3D movie" - James Cameron, AVATAR's Director !!

"Just Watched Life of Pi at Fox Studios... It's a masterpiece !! So much Tamil in it !!
Don't Miss It" - A. R. Rahman :)

These were the two quotes which increased my interest to watch 'Life of Pi' apart from the fact that it has been directed by Ang Lee !!

Felt proud when our Tamil language has taken its next leap on the World Class Celluloid. The movie is a technical wonder and you gotta see it to live Pi's survival days on the Pacific !!

Suraj, Tabu, Irrfan and most importantly the computer generated Richard Parker will be the often repeated names in Hollywood for some time :)

The 2nd story which Pi tells at the end, where the audience in theatre felt unrest, is actually what the entire twist is all about similar to how 'Sixth Sense' movie made us feel !! No spoilers meant here but just a caution to watch the end closely :)

The film is a visual feast to our eyes. Also it has raised too many questions about God's mysterious ways though has answered only a few !!

Thuppaki Movie Review

Finally... Finally, a smart, original and most importantly an Intelligent film from Vijay, thanks to A.R.Murugadoss.. Vijay could have chosen movies of this sort long b4 itself anyways it has happened now than never.. No Punch dialogues, no colourful costumes and no Sky Diving stunts yet Vijay has mesmerised us with his performance !! :-)

A Nail biting thriller and a tribute to Indian Army !! (This Diwali has suddenly made me even more patriotic having seen 2 Army movies in the 2 consecutive days) !

Hindi Remake is already on talks with Akshay Kumar !!

Jab Tak Hai Jaan Movie Review

The Gateway for your Last trip to Yashji's Fantasy World of Romance where LOVE Rules and everything else lives happily ever, is gonna close soon because along with Yashji, that World itself is gonna vanish sooner!!!

I expected a long boring lecture on Love, well that is how we feel in this 'Vicky Donor' age when we see a Director from Last Generation gives a movie!! But with his son to his aid, the story moves so fast with witty dialogues, you are spell bound to watch it, thanks equally to Rahman's Magical numbers!!

The plot is loosely based on Tamil Movie Vaaranam Aayiram (Guess His son Aditya Chopra would have got inspired from this but the comparison just ends there thankfully!)

All scenes may give u both a Dejavu as well as a fresh story treatment feel to you. It has got some cliches of Yashji but thats what we like about him !!

You will love the movie if and ONLY IF you are an ardent fan of atleast one among the following : Yash Chopra or A.R.Rahman or SRK or Katrina Kaif or Anushka Sharma !!

Well surely am a big fan of the 1st two icons and Katrina has joined my list with her moves and acting(!!!) !!

'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' Title song which was supposed to be shot at Switzerland but couldn't be because of Yashji's untimely demise has been added at the end credits with his 'Behind the Screen' activities and it ends with him uttering 'Action' !! :( :(

Skyfall Review !!

After the Skyfall which happened yesterday in Chennai (in the form of Neelam storm), hoped to experience something similar today as well at 007's Skyfall !! :) The main reason why the movie came into my watchlist is because of Adele's Haunting Title Song !! If only I had listened to it a few days later !!

Yes, it started great with 007 doing Daredevilry stunts and roaming all around the world to places like Turkey, London, Shanghai, Scotland but if you get mighty pleased after watching the 1st half of SKYFALL and feel that you're watching the best Bond movie ever, kindly wait for the 2nd half to begin.

Trying to compete with the 'Joker's escape from custody' scene in 'The Dark Knight', what they've delivered is nowhere closer to it.

As the plot moves on, 007 turns Old-fashioned for a reason and after that what you see are bits and pieces of Vintage style 'Home Alone' and slow & spooky 'Harry Potter' (May be 'The Guy who played with Harry' --> Ralph Fiennes' appearance now and then on screen added more effect on this) !!

Heard the loudest cheers and whistles in the 1st half but once the movie ended very few even clapped and it was funny to see people's awkward face expressions which conveyed, 'I think I dont like the movie, do you?'

The Sky has indeed Fallen upon our Heads and it is Paining !! :(

P.S. --> For me 'Casino Royale' is still the best Bond movie among Daniel Craig's !!

Barfi Movie Review

Barfi! --> A story with which one can mostly make only a sad lengthy movie, Anurag Basu has delivered a film filled with Fun chases, Suspense, colorful landscapes, lovable songs and many Heart Touching joyous moments. Brilliant performances from Ranbir, Ileana & Priyanka.. One of the rarest films from Bollywood this yr and a must watch! :)

Whether the much awaited event of World's end is in 2012 or not, I'm proud to b one among the lucky members who've witnessed today, the Planet's another Biggest Event for this yr!!! :) An Epic End to the Genius Director Christopher Nolan's Trilogy!!! Hans Zimmer's BGM score was most brilliant & even outshined the loudest whistles & cheers in theatre!! BATMAN --> A SuperHero who doesn't have any Super Powers yet will reign the hearts of fans as the GOD of all Super Heroes !!

Madagascar 3

The 1st 15min when a Chasing scene comes was by itself awesome enough to watch this move!! 3D used to the core & the 4some have a Circus tour :) Climax with Katy Perry's 'Firework' song, this is a film for all age groups.. The wait for a full Laugh Riot after Kung Fu Panda 2 was finally over !! :)

Titanic 3D !!

Reliving the 1st and Last Journey of the 'Unsinkable' Titanic for 3.5 hrs in SilverScreen is itself a blessing. And this time, the Struggle of Jack and Rose to escape from the Titanic which brought them both together, in 3D, was more awesome than ever b4. Since every scene is so familiar with all, every1 were whistling & cheering throughout ending it al up with a standing ovation to Celine Dion's song. NIce eve wel spent!!

The Descendants -- Review !!

The Descendants--> 2 Golden Globe Awards & 5 Oscar Nominations for this '1 Dying Mom & 1 Father trying to tackle with 2 Daughters' movie ?? Wondering y I went to the movie but it has got everything else fit into it other than tragedy also.. Nanban Movie Review !!

NANBAN (3 Idiots) : Sticking to the original & adding witty One-Liners & His Trademark Fantasy Songs, this film is Vijay's Best one till date delivered by Director Shankar.. All is well with the cast & performance :) Though none could fit into Aamir Khan's shoes but himself (similar to Cindrella's), Vijay has become mature & worthy enough to carry Aamir's Shoes without considering it as burden !!! :) Perfect Remake since Vasool Raja M.B.B.S. !!! :))))))))
